Fees

My private patients usually have medical insurance. This page provides further information about my fees and billing.

When receiving private medical care, the costs are usually borne by insurance companies. I trade through Riyaz Shah Oncology Ltd.

My fee for an initial consultation will not exceed £400 and my fee for any follow-up consultation will not exceed £200. Individual insurance companies may negotiate a change to my fee structure. I reserve the right to enter such negotiations on a case by case basis in confidence. I also charge a fee for supervising systemic therapy. These estimates are correct as at the date of this letter.

Following your consultation, you may need certain tests (such as blood tests, X-rays, CT/PET/MRI scans) to help me guide treatment. The fees for these tests will be determined by the clinic or hospital and charged to you, or your private medical insurer, separately.

My fees are for personal professional services and do not include the cost of drugs, tests, nursing care, hospital charges etc. These are usually settled between your funder (usually your insurance company or yourself) and the hospital.

If there are any fees which I will charge in relation to any of the tests I advise you.

If you have private medical insurance, please contact your insurer before your consultation, to check the terms of your policy, particularly the level and type of outpatient cover you have, including any reimbursement limits on individual consultation fees. Please note you are responsible for any fees not covered by your insurer.

It is important to keep your insurance company informed about planned treatments, scans or procedures. If you are concerned about private medical cover please discuss this with your insurance company beforehand.

I am approved by most major insurance companies including BUPA, AXA PPP, Aviva, Cigna, Healix, Vitality Health, Simply Health, Exeter Friendly, CS Healthcare, EDU and WPA. My fees have been settled by these companies to date.

I am legally obliged to tell you if I have any financial interests in the clinics/hospitals within which I practice. I can confirm I do not have any such financial interests. I am employed as a specialist advisor by Genesiscare
